Born in South Australia in 1985, Simon’s love of surfing came from his family’s constant beach holiday experiences on the Fleurieu and Yorke Peninsulas. After leaving school, Simon studied various art practices at the local university leading to a career in art education. His interest in both the human figure and the ocean is the driving force behind his surf-based artwork. Combining surfing and art has always been a way to continue the stoke of surfing when not in the ocean. The goal of Simon’s art is to explore painting the figure and the surfer’s interaction with the ocean. He currently juggles time between family life, teaching and continuing his artistic journey through surf-based artwork.
