Mike Doyle counts among his accolades a 1970 World Surfing Championship, the 1969 Duke Kahanamoku title, he was twice voted Best Surfer in the Surfer Magazine, and is an inductee into the prestigious Surfers Hall of Fame. Doyle’s artworks are bright with colors inspired by local landscapes and the odd creatures that inhabit them, infused with Doyle’s devotion to a life of soul and adventure. “I use my intuition and create spontaneously. Sometimes a mistake will become my theme and the painting flows from there. In 1986 I gave up my real job in the surf industry for painting and I have never looked back. I love it. It was always in my veins but I just wasn’t sure about making a living out of doing what I totally believed in. Well, it worked for me in surfing and it’s working for me in art.” RIP, Mike (2019)
