Juan Fernández was born in Gijón, Asturias (Spain) in 1978. When he was fifteen he started getting interest about photography. Same year a Spanish surf magazine ran an image taken by Juan. Since that moment he has specialized in all about surf journalism and travelling. He studied photography in CEV, Madrid, and took part in seminaries with teachers like Genin Andrada and Jose Manuel Navia (National Geographic photographers), and currently he has finished a degree in journalism.
He likes searching for new waves and work in lonely and strong spots with surfers who not only are interested in getting waves, but people who know the culture, people and landscapes around the spots. And he usually writes personal articles and reports about all relation with surfing for Spanish magazines.
He has published his work in companies, magazines and publishers of Spain, France, United Kingdom, Portugal, South Africa, Holland, Italy, USA and Japan.
