I call what I paint GROOVY FUN BEACH ISLAND SURF ART, FOR LOVERS OF THE TROPICS, WAVES, ISLAND GIRLS AND MODERN ART.
Whilst I always doodled and sketched here and there, I only painted my first canvas about 3 years ago. A charity fund raiser was organised for a beautiful dear friend and I painted a groovy mermaid and said whatever it sells for that is my contribution. Thinking oh well if it sells for $15, well thats my donation. No one was more surprised than me when the bidding ended and a well known local identity purchased it for $400. It was then I thought Wow, I enjoy doing this and there could be some money in it as well!!
I've continued on since then when time allows, painting in my own simple, bold and colourful style and it still continues to amaze me that people smile when they see my work and are happy to pay and take them home to keep.
I have surfed for 26 years and lived most of my life in Coolangatta, Southern Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia I also lived, worked and surfed in Bali for 7 years. I still love to travel to Bali and Hawaii annually and draw inspiration from these travels for my artwork. I love being a Mum, I love my family and friends, I love having the privilege to be able to travel & surf abroad, I love surfing and the lifestyle its afforded me and I love the freedom painting gives me, life is hectic, but when I paint time slows down.
You can find my work in collections across Australia, Hawaii and Bali, even Occy (Mark Occhilupo) has one!
Live your dreams, keep smiling while you surf, and remember life is like a long green wall, go for it.
