Biography

Australian born artist, Pete Tillack was drawn on an adventurous seven-year journey, which took him around the world and was lead by his love of the ocean’s waves and his passion for surfing.

Living and participating in the many diverse communities he visited, Tillack encountered countless cultures and lifestyles that lent a hand in helping him became more aware of his own self-explorations, direction and personal growth.

He draws upon these emotions and experiences to transcend the feelings to others through his art, his work is heavily influenced from his travels and surroundings but all are infused with the same feelings of serenity.

"The goal with my work is to bring the viewer to that stolen moment of time where they escape their present surroundings and conditions, - an active meditation.

It is during this tranquil state that you create a moment of clarity, contemplating aspirations, life's directions or solving problems. You begin to process where you need to take your life and what needs to be done to get there, of that get away place you have always wanted or, due to the clear thought pattern, you are able to find the elusive solution to a certain problem.

It is the 'eye of the storm', it can not be forced but can be provoked, it may happen in the middle of a traffic jam, or while watching the sunset - you are ultimately fixated with a blank stare, all external input ceases.Once you return to your routine, there is an almost rejuvenated feeling adding passion and drive. It is this point that I wish to instate in my audience. Through giving them a point of focus, being, that tranquil target scene or the figure who is caught in that pondering moment, 'Situation of Serenity'"

A self taught artist, Tillack uses his technical analysis of contrast to give his wonderful creations a depth as to draw the viewer into each piece, and lure them into an experience, transcend them to a peaceful disposition, their personal journey.

During his travels, Tillack pursued many independent studies in such places as, Italy, France, Central America, South America and South Africa. As well as participating with other artist in bringing together many high profile public pieces.
